Plaintiffs ought to be suing federal and state governments for their puritanical and destructive drug laws. It is arguable that manufacturers promoted addictive drugs irresponsibly. And that physicians prescribed them irresponsibly. But I doubt that most addicts overdosed with opioids obtained under prescription. Most likely overdosed on illegal opioids that they resorted to, after their prescriptions got cut off.
