I took a pay cut to go to my last company. Every employee of the original company was getting abused so badly by the founder that I really would've taken anything. It just so happened that the company I was taking a pay cut to go to had tremendous opportunity for growth, and what started as a medium sized paycut turned into a huge pay increase. I'm glad it worked out that way, but I'm certain that pattern is in no way common. Now, I would probably take a small cut to do something I was excited about. I've been working with my therapist to try and figure out specifically what that would be, but I haven't had a ton of luck.
