I used to record my desktop all the time, and then even after a short interruption review it to mentally retrace my thought flow. Now I just use IntelliJ's Ctrl+Alt+Left/Right shortcuts to jump around the places I was looking at / modifying. Though reviewing footage was more effective; I might start doing that again. (For context, I am a game designer at AAA studio and I write a lot of code.)
