Exactly. Even when I am typing something with a friendly coworker causally looking over my shoulder, I tend to make way more mistakes then I would if I was by myself. I've been interviewing a lot of people, and it is very, very important to make them feel as comfortable and as much at ease as possible in couple of first minutes etc. Otherwise you're going to be testing their stress resistance, and not creative thinking. And it is just impossible to completely remove the stress.
