You had a viable argument right up until that point!
Edit: Thanks for the bot downvotes! Going from +2 to -1 in the span of a minute on two separate comments is a bit of a red flag :P
- EpicEng 7y agoNot arressting people for theft is pretty extremist and I can't imagine how that is a good thing for the citizens of Seattle.
- rdtwo 7y agoClearly you need to check your privilege and share your stuff...
- paggle 7y agoOK, design a punishment that will deter people from stealing. I’m not opposed to caning but for some reason the country refuses to do it.
- sbierwagen 7y agoAdding a comment complaining about being downvoted tends to invite more downvotes from unrelated posters.
- allana 7y agoThe timing is just so interesting though! Two of my comments saw 3 downvotes in the span of a minute, the latter of which was much further down than this comment.
- EpicEng 7y agoAmazing: A whole three downvotes! No way more than two people are reading this comment section at the same time.
- downandout 7y agoI downvoted you, and I’m pretty sure I’m not a bot. I did so because failing to lock up people that commit serious crimes is prima facie extremist - no citation is necessary.
- allana 7y agoYou were ratelimited by @dang for acting poorly, not surprisingly your continuing to act against the sites policy for downvoting.
- downandout 7y agoDownvoting is against the site’s policy? Why does the downvote button exist then?
- allana 7y agoDownvoting (from what I gather) is supposed to be used not as a disagree button, but rather as a tool when a comment doesn't add value to a conversation, hence why downvotes are so restricted on HN.
- downandout 7y agoI think you have a misunderstanding of this issue. If that’s the case, essentially every downvote I have ever received was an “abuse” of the feature.
