I don't think so. For all his flaws he's still just a human and worthy of respect. Many people may disagree with his ideas and his methods but he's had a successful life which is worth remembering after death.
- callmeal 7y agoAll the families stuck in cages on the border and those whose kids died from being refused vaccines may disagree with you. Yes, this is pulling at emotions, but I'm appalled at how well everyone is ignoring or brushing away the awful things that are going on under the guise of "many people disagree". I agree there are parts of him that are worthy of respect. But those parts are shadowed by all the parts that have been treating humans other than him as just pieces of garbage. Nobody deserves to die. But some peoples death can spread a sense of relief because the survivors won't have to deal with all the misery that person was spreading around.
- algaeontoast 7y agoWhy is that directly his fault? Just because someone supports a side doesn’t mean they’re complicit in everything every arm of that “side” conducts. Usually educated people seem to respond with less emotion and better articulated rhetoric.

You can be complicit by omission too. There's a reason why "just following orders" does not grant immunity. And why supervisors/managers are held responsible for the actions of their subordinates.
- saiya-jin 7y agoNo. Worth of respect ain't something you give out freely to anybody who lived just because they earned more money than most no matter what. It has to be hard earned with some proper hardships and moral decisions on top of that. At least that's how my respect works. YMMV
- algaeontoast 7y agoYour use of words and rhetoric is troubling regardless of your politics...
- devinjflick 7y agoDoes a person who lacks respect for human life deserve for their life to be respected? I'd argue no. I'm not celebrating his death or anything, but I have no sympathies for him either. I'd argue he did more harm to the world than good which is plenty of reason to be glad about his departure from our world.
