Strong advise anyone considering putting one of these on their keychains to consider otherwise. The actual connector of my usb-c version has warped in my pocket over time and it’s now not recognised.
- rullgrus 7y agoI wonder how hard it is to create a really sturdy USB-C plug. The connector on all of the USB-C cables I have does seem a little flimsy. I have an YubiKey 5 NFC on the keychan and it has handled the abuse over the years just fine.
- jwr 7y agoThe USB-A version is great. I've been using it for more than a year now and it has taken all kinds of abuse. I'm considering keeping it and using a small USB-C -> USB-A dongle. I have to live a dongle life anyway (because of the stupid Apple decision to go all-in on USB-C, with users as hostages), so it doesn't matter that much.
- PStamatiou 7y agoHow long have you had it? Have had a USB-C yubikey in my pocket for almost 2 years now with no issues.
- sdflhasjd 7y agoThis was my main concern when I bought my USB-C version as well. But what actually happened was the plastic casing crumbled (!?), eventually enough of the casing came off that the USB-C connector was only held on by some solder pads, which eventually failed. For a pretty critical device, the USB-C version is rubbish.
