The point is to have more regular sun exposure, not stay locked up in an office for 6 months, then spend a week on a beach for 4 hours at a time. To end up looking like that you need to do some serious sunbathing or outdoor work without covering yourself. You aren't going to end up looking like that just from walking outside for 30 mins a day, especially not at latitudes further from the equator.
