Give it less spin and using the opportunity to denounce current status of healthcare in the biggest economy of the world? The social function of the press (“the 4th power”) is to coordinate attention of the people. Spinning those stories as uplifting porn is disfunctional; at least, missed opportunities; at worst, opium that numbs social change.

- harperlee 7y agoJust giving broader context of the news in question, and how e.g. it is exceptional for a first world country to have children working in order to pay for their brother’s health treatments (an example in the linked article), would be very effective, and IMHO not spin at all. I’m aware though that discussing reality is sometimes “too political”...
