I'd argue for "actively bad". The pretense of truth isn't just a a distraction; for a large enough group of people with a great number of articles, it's a fog.

The pretense of truth isn't just a a distraction; for a large enough group of people with a great number of articles, it's a fog. It prevents all but the eagle-eyed or the timely from penetrating it to discover truth.

Playing the game and being purposely deceitful is the type of behavior that gets people promoted, so that's what people do. To get promoted to a senior you usually do need to BS about vague nonsense like "independence", "ownership" and "impact".
