In the abstract, I can see it being a valid strategy; do that, see what parts need improvement, refine your process to address the issues, see if it's good enough yet. I don't think it's reasonable to ask a brand new car company to have the same levels of detail/polish available to companies that have been around for like 70 or 80 years; those companies probably had to learn a lot of shit too. I can see this being a valid thought process. That doesn't mean I want to be the guinea pig.
