I think it's more about attitudes, like if you're cracking jokes about being a gentrifier as if it doesn't negatively affect other peoples' lives, then that's not good. The other part is voting -- gentrifiers tend to vote for their own interests and may overlook or vote against efforts the people they're outclassing care about e.g affordable housing.
