I don't understand why the action was to disable the account, rather than deleting the offending tweet.

  Twitters approach is that of teaching a pet not to pee on the rug. You rub their nose in it first. "Bad, bad!"

    Anybody who's ever had a dog will know that rubbing their face in it 9 years later won't do any good.
