It's clear that a promoted item can be paid for.
What looks unethical / abuse of monopoly-ish here is - you (business) something else completely unrelated, like ads or whatever, and in exchange they get an unrelated "Amazon's choice" tag.
It feels similar to a kickback/bribe.
