They were not being PC:
Over the last 5 years, I’ve heard co-workers spew hateful words about immigrants,
boast unabashedly about gentrifying neighborhoods, mockingly imitate people who speak different
languages, reject candidates of color without evidence because of “fit,” and so much more.
- joe223 7y agoSpecific examples would help. I'm genuinely curious what those "hateful words" were.
- mcv 7y agoIs the actual situation described in the memo, where people consider their own ability to move through traffic more important than the life of a black man, not enough? I find it hard to believe someone on this forum would have no clue what 'hateful words' sound like. Even if you've lived a completely sheltered life, at least you can read. Inform yourself.
- joe223 7y agoNo, it's not enough. He made a few very specific and strong statements that need to be backed up with something.
- mcv 7y agoIt's a memo, not a lawsuit. He's describing a harmful culture, not naming specific names. He doesn't have to name specific slurs that were used. I would really like to believe that you're smart enough to understand what some of those slurs could have been. Which exactly were used has no relevance to the message of the memo.
- joe223 7y agoWithout details this memo isn't credible. Just like he doesn't have to mention any details, we don't have to believe him.
- mcv 7y agoDo you work at Google? People at the company may well recognise the situation. Whether or not you believe it is relatively irrelevant. Anyone with any social awareness will recognise this as something that certainly could happen. And people who are set to disbelieve it no matter what, will not be swayed by evidence anyway, like creationists and flat earthers.
