Earth Stopped Getting Greener 20 Years Ago
- ThomPete 7y agoNot according to Nasa. Scientific American pretty obvious politically biased which is easily demonstrated when you read the article. https://www.forbes.com/sites/trevornace/2019/02/28/nasa-says-earth-is-greener-today-than-20-years-ago-thanks-to-china-india/ https://www.forbes.com/sites/trevornace/2019/02/28/nasa-says...
- not_a_cop75 7y agoThe paper is from https://advances.sciencemag.org/content/5/8/eaax1396 https://advances.sciencemag.org/content/5/8/eaax1396 I don't know what to think generally, but certainly a diminished amount of water vapor seems a possible symptom of issues. Like symptoms though, it needs to be pointed to one or more causalities to mean anything significant.
- aaron695 7y agoI thought we were all going to die from 32 degree C wet bulb temperatures? I lose track of how the disciples of climate change think humanity will end each week. What's with humans chasing a mythical Armageddon
- hirundo 7y agoA contrary take: > Taken all together, the greening of the planet over the last two decades represents an increase in leaf area on plants and trees equivalent to the area covered by all the Amazon rainforests. There are now more than two million square miles of extra green leaf area per year, compared to the early 2000s – a 5% increase. The article links to a nature.com study that says about about 1/3 of this greening is due to direct human activity, particularly in India and China. https://www.nasa.gov/feature/ames/human-activity-in-china-and-india-dominates-the-greening-of-earth-nasa-study-shows https://www.nasa.gov/feature/ames/human-activity-in-china-an...
- godshatter 7y agoI thought climate change was supposed to increase moisture in the air, since a warmer atmosphere can hold more water.
