I feel like something must be seriously wrong with capitalism if it can keep creating these startups and funnelling endless hundreds of milions into them so they can accumulate debt, lose money, and achieve absolutely nothing of value.
- codeisawesome 7y agoI loved working at WeWork in Singapore for my remote ex-employer, and will definitely do it again with my own cash if I need to work by myself. All the other Coworking spaces (a dime a dozen in this town, I tried them all) had issues with something or the other. I think they do create something of value, and so do ridesharing companies (I love using them and hate the experience of hunting for taxis). Maybe it’s incorrect to look at just short term revenue/profit figures when deciding if these companies are creating wealth for their users...
- umanwizard 7y agoEven if that’s true, why should it bother you that money is being extracted from rich VCs and distributed to other rich people in the worst case, and working- and middle-class employees and customers in the best case?
- Ididntdothis 7y agoDon't forget that the rich VCs are often not putting up their own money but often pension funds from your local municipality .
- randomsearch 7y agoAren’t the rich VCs cashing in on the IPOs and letting the markets take the losses? Classic bubble behaviour - pay plenty so long as someone else will pay more.
- TazeTSchnitzel 7y agoSort of like a ponzi scheme requiring a constant inflow of cash, where those who get out earlier are fine and the rest lose?
- TazeTSchnitzel 7y agoIt isn't necessarily like that. Uber has tried to “disrupt” fair conditions for transportation workers out of existence.
