I feel like that is immature. You're implying that a conversation about the kids cannot be pleasurable and informative. I recently moved to an all women team (running joke was that I was a diversity hire) and the kind of things they need to do to prepare for pregnancy blew my mind. When my colleagues talk about their kids asking weird questions and putting their parents in weird situations it's as stimulating a puzzle to solve as any of the philosophical masterbation.
- celticmusic 7y agoFor you, not me. I don't really care what these women have to do to prepare for pregnancy. but here's the secret. I also didn't call you immature, or a bigot for being interested in things that I am not. However, this is the second time now that someone has denigrated another person for having different interests, calling it philosophical masturbation. Which tells me that while I may not be as interested in seeking out conversations about people's children, I probably get along with more people than you do (ironically enough...) because I'm more accepting of the differences between other people and myself. Or who knows, maybe it takes immaturity to avoid denigrating others for their interests.
