As others have pointed out the study itself is too small to draw significant conclusions, but I agree with the hypothesis at least that developers are risk-adverse with their time and data. I think developers especially are worried about getting locked into an ecosystem, so as a new product it may be useful to make it easy and obvious in how to both IMPORT and EXPORT data from competitors.
