Nowadays it's mostly people partying with their countrymen they met far away from homecountry in hostels (where locals don't go) partying in touristy bars (where locals don't go) in touristy neighbourhoods (where locals don't live and rarely goes). On top of that, many people travel in groups and don't communicate with people outside of their group at all. Want that authentic experience? Go solo to barely visited places. But that's not what 90% (if not 99%) of tourists do.
