That chart is based on Google Trends, which is a terrible way to measure social network activity/popularity.

- lowdose 7y agoA lot of people don't use bookmarks and even when they know very well it is facebook.com they still hit search "facebook" on Google.
- Deimorz 7y agoThat doesn't matter much. The largest difference is that the majority of people access social networks through mobile apps now, and Google Trends can't reflect that at all. For example, Facebook shows a 71% drop worldwide in Google Trends over the last 5 years. Their Q2 2019 earnings showed a 20% worldwide growth in monthly users over the last two years alone. Google Trends can't tell you anything useful about a site's growth or activity.
