Slack is better than Teams in my opinion, but Slack still suffers from things even IRC has advantages over. Teams UI is atrocious. IRC is free, has channel administration & granular permissions, a working & functional tab complete, many different clients with extremely low memory & cpu usage. The biggest problem with IRC though is not being able to read back without the use of a bouncer or something like paid IRCcloud.
