You state this as a fact, but Google seems to use, and to have long used, load time as a ranking metric (see https://backlinko.com/google-ranking-factors https://backlinko.com/google-ranking-factors #22, for example), and I've never heard any serious complaints about it.
- buboard 7y agoit would face less criticism (even though it does use site speed as a signal - they ve said that many times)
