Ask HN: How to prevent review websites from becoming protection rackets?

I have been reading more and more stories about websites that deal in ratings and reviews managing their business as protection rackets. This goes from restaurant reviews, to companies and services. It seems that eventually every website that cowdsouces this kind of data, tries to monetize it by what I can only describe as racketeering. For me this business model seems unavoidable, do you see any way to disrupt this industry and make it more transparent?
