51 Pegasi b
- messe 7y agoTitle should be "51 Pegasi b", with b lowercase as it denotes a planet.
- BubRoss 7y agoI would say the title should be a longer description that tells people what they are clicking on instead of a few words that look like gibberish to most people and nothing else.
- gus_massa 7y agoThe anticlickbait filter probably ate the 51. (It's a false positive.) I'm not sure about the capital "B". The guidelines recommend to use the original title, but some minor variations are tolerated. I'd recommend "51 Pegasi b – extrasolar planet Bellerophon". In this cases you can send an email to the mods and they sometimes agree and fix the title hn@ycombinator.com
- dang 7y agoThe site guidelines ask people to "please use the original title, unless it is misleading or linkbait". The original title in this case is neither misleading nor linkbait, so should be used (https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html). It's true that the title doesn't explain itself, but not every title needs to. On HN it's good for readers to have to work a little, and for not everything to instantly disclose its secrets. This is different from clickbait because there's no attempt to exploit mechanical reactions to get attention, and no repetitive trope. https://hn.algolia.com/?sort=byDate&dateRange=all&type=comment&storyText=false&prefix=false&page=0&query=by:dang%20%22work%20a%20little%22 https://hn.algolia.com/?sort=byDate&dateRange=all&type=comme...
