A few years ago, my friend who moved to and now lives in Thailand told me something similar to the contents of the article. Specifically, a quiet beach area that locals would go to became overrun with tourists after Instagrammer with lots of followers posted the location. I guess I wouldn't mind this if it meant we became more receptive to making life decisions to help preserve the environment, but it seems like the outcome is mostly just about getting addicted to upvotes/likes on digital platforms. Ah well.
