I think that's not that bug at all. When memory runs out, the entire system stalls, including the UI, but nothing crashes. If these issues are frequent, the system is basically frozen. I have this in Matlab on Linux. Matlab can actually deal with worker processes being killed, but my machine just locks up. Therefore, we have to run these specific simulations under Windows, where this doesn't occur.
