Yes, America Is Rigged Against Workers
- anm89 7y agoCool well I guess I don't have to read the article since the argument and conclusion are the title.
- whatshisface 7y agoThe conclusion yes, but the argument?
- anm89 7y agoArgument: "America is rigged against workers" Conclusion: "yes"
- phnofive 7y agoIt’s an opinion piece in promotion of a book. There is discussion of wage stagnation and diminished union influence, and the conclusion that: > “America’s workers won’t stop thinking the system is rigged until they feel they have an effective voice in the workplace and in policymaking.” So, the author is making as much of a statement about the perception of workers in America as their reality, but not breaking any new ground in his arguments.
- Buldak 7y agoI'm not sure what you're complaining about. Would it be better if titles were more oblique?
- yborg 7y agoPeople are now programmed to require Buzzfeed clickbaiting, we now are suspicious of any source that apparently doesn't care enough to chum the waters and instead delivers a usable summary.
- anm89 7y agoHa, are you arguing the merit of this is that it's not click bait? Consider me totally dumbfounded.
- anm89 7y agoIt's a pre chewed thought for people who want to be angry and can't be bothered with the why part. I'm absolutely of the mind that many off the systems which comprise our socio-economic-political system are deeply unfair to people who are "workers“(side note, what a bullshit term, do CEOs not do work? Are lawyers not workers? They sure seem to work a lot) But instead it reduces the concept to the point of being a bumbling conspiracy theory which is bordering on semantically invalid. How do you rig a geographic location?
- addajones 7y agoYes, I’m so tired of these article titles. Pass.
- segfaultbuserr 7y agoI think it's better, at least it's more honest than titles that end with a question mark. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betteridge%27s_law_of_headlines https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betteridge%27s_law_of_headline...

- petermcneeley 7y agoI think this is whats fresh about the article. (especially coming from NYT) "There were undoubtedly many reasons for Donald Trump’s 2016 victory, but a key one was that many Americans seemed to view him as a protest candidate" We all know the facts of the article. This sentence is about the consequences of those facts.
- HillaryBriss 7y agothe flip side seems to be that America is rigged for consumers[1] [1] of imported goods and watery beer, as contrasted with health care and higher education
