Barry Diller said something along the lines, that similarly to smoking, increasingly, only poor people watch commercials. The rest pays premium to get rid of them.
Considering how strongly Netflix fought against the analysts prediction that they will have to run ads, I'm quite curious where the advertisers will go once the cable is "gone".
- asdff 7y agoYoutube is getting absurd these days with ads.
- doh 7y agoI think it will get much worse. There is around $80B worth of advertisement locked in in the cable TV just in US. This all will come eventually to online and large portion to UGC platforms supporting video, so YouTube, FB, Twitter, ... Maybe more people will start paying for premium version if available (like YouTube Red).
- Ambele 7y agoYoutube is free though unlike Prime and Netflix.
