I think to would be better to say Toyko is 2-wheel-vehicle friendly. Some of those vehicles are powered by humans, some by an electric motor, and others by a 150 cc engine.
In my opinion it's better to focus on skinny vehicle overall than just bikes; just because the current motorcycle culture in the US is that of a mid-life crisis on wheels doesn't mean that the motorcycle can't play a role in the city of tommorow
- golemiprague 7y agoIn Tel Aviv many people abandoned mopeds to use electric bike instead to such a level that now it became a nuisance because some streets are narrow and there is not enough space for cars, bicycles and pedestrians. In Tokyo people use bikes mostly to get to the train station or to local shops, they don't travel far and they don't ride on the road but rather among pedestrians. East Asian countries got a lot of mopeds and scooters on the road. Basically each country develop their own way based on conditions and culture. I don't think you can apply it from one city to another, certainly American cities which are mostly sprawled and suburban.
