  At the current rates of innovation and population growth I'd wager that our chances aren't looking too good long term anyway. Or medium term for that matter depending on how we define that. I have far more "gifts" to pass on to friends, family, and society, than the act of impregnating someone. Does it not occur to you that my contribution to society could be more efficient that way than having children? Perhaps this is part of the innovation of which you speak? Also, you might want to meet me before makeing any "fitting individual" judgement!
