I absolutely love it. Got a home in the 400s with a 10 min drive to downtown (I actually bike instead, there's some very bike-friendly roads. Just under Bay area pay for much lower cost of living. You never run out of things to do. The only downside is the traffic going north to south - if you find a place to live close to work you're fine. If you get a house, then later work at the other side of town, you might have to put up with a 1hr commute.
