Overall a good article, but please note that the 5 kWh/GB figure is plain wrong. The source attributes all power consumption of all connected devices to data transfer, and it simply makes up the base figures. Actual marginal power cost of data transfer is probably around 1/1000 the cited figure. Still doesn't mean wasting data is a good idea.
