no it's the geography, too hard and bumpy or waterlogged to drill tunnels
- devnulloverflow 7y agoYou don't have to drill tunnels. The North Shore line isn't on tunnels for the most part, but it also never goes anywhere near the shore. I guess it's true that now you might need tunnels (especially for the eastern suburbs). But these lines could have been built many decades ago.
