The Russians can't force project for shit. They struggle with Syria and that's practically their next door neighbor. Their surface fleet in particular is abysmal and has been since... basically forever. Rather than actually shooting at each other, America and Russia seem to compete to sell weapon systems to other countries, or to prevent the other from doing so. Two competing but symbiotic MICs whose mere existence serves to justify the existence of the other, creating an opportunity for profit across the board. It's better than a war though.
