Nginx/HAProxy/Pound probably don't care about disk access if they are balancing.
http://haproxy.1wt.eu/news.html http://haproxy.1wt.eu/news.html shows that he got nearly 10Gbps on "cheap" hardware (excluding the donated NICs)
