- streb-lo 7y agoMostly on private land for the purpose of harvesting with heavy equipment. Not exactly a carbon sink...
- harryh 7y agoSure it is. Harvested lumber doesn't release its CO2 back into the atmosphere unless you burn it.
- frankbreetz 7y agoor it decomposes
- harryh 7y agoOK sure, but that isn't happening to most harvested lumber either.
- streb-lo 7y agoPlantation-style forestry like that found in the US is much less efficient as a sink because the harvesting carbon cost is amortized across a much more frequent harvest cycle.
