> Digital-industry group DIGI—which represents Google, Facebook, Twitter and Verizon Media—said lawmakers need to think carefully about unintended consequences that could affect competition and the range of products available to Australian consumers.
Seems a little disingenuous, pretty sure Facebook and Google aren't really concerned about competition, and the range of products available
- Zak 7y agoThe group is suggesting that its members will make some of their products unavailable to Australian users if regulations they deem unacceptable are imposed. It's plausible. Australia's population is about 25 million. Assuming 90% of the population uses Facebook, they're under 1% of Facebook's userbase. That's enough of a loss to care about, but not so much that the company couldn't consider it as an option.
