While this particular mural might have very few redeeming qualities per se, it's the justifications used to remove it that are dangerous (also quite stupid, but given people they are coming from that is to be expected). It's just a generally bad idea to allow things to be destroyed under such pretenses.
That, and for the money they want to do it, they could've done something to make SF schools better, it's not like they were giving particularly good education there to begin with.
