- m3at 7y agoYou're not alone in arguing for the importance of this page :) https://m.xkcd.com/843/ https://m.xkcd.com/843/
- pessimizer 7y agoUgh, the world has me figured out, but at least it approves.

- po 7y agoSecond only to the List of Cognitive Biases: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cognitive_biases https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cognitive_biases really... you think you know them all but you don't. Everyone needs to understand the IKEA effect for example
- virgilp 7y agoThe problem I have with these sort of lists is that they try to be comprehensive and add a lot of second order biases that tend to drown the basic/ fundamental ones. Take your example for IKEA effect: it is in fact a consequence of loss aversion. Once you invest emotion, time or money into something, you assign more value to it, because you do not want "lose" your initial investment.
- andruby 7y agoIs that again a consequence of "sunk cost" fallacy?
- PasserBy2021 7y agoKeep in mind that certain biases are censored against e.g. Apex Fallacy.
- Mathnerd314 7y agoThe Wikipedia page on that was deleted due to a lack of reliable sources (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Apex_fallacy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletio...). There still seem to be no reliable sources. (https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C6&q=%22apex+fallacy%22&btnG= https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C6&q=%22a...) I'll admit I don't see the point of many of the other cognitive biases, but at least they were coined or studied in some peer-reviewed papers.
- pessimizer 7y agoI can't believe there's a wikipedia page consisting solely of things that I bring up during party conversations to seem interesting. Thanks for showing me this.
- lilcorey10 7y agoI'm curious how the classes are assigned to a topic. What attributes from the knowledge model are they using to determine 'vital'? Also, who/what determines the ontological hierarchy of the classes for topics..
