Yeah, it really needs to have some differentiator that VS Code and the like would struggle to duplicate. I have a suggestion (however unrealistic): speed. VS Code is, you know, usually fast enough that I don't notice any more. I bet, though, that if there was a similarly-featured editor that was perceptually instantaneous, I'd notice.
