  It's pretty close. For a while crypto was classified as munition and placed under very strict export control in the United States.

    It's amusing to watch the score on this comment go up and down without any new comments. The similarity between gun control and crypto control is plainly strong. If you like wide availability of strong crypto but not personal ownership of firearms, consider investing some energy into figuring out why (fear of the unfamiliar, fear of others, low testosterone, strong fascist or communist leanings, desire to disenfranchise minorities, etc). I am open for questions or remarks and here to help.
