There is no reason that quality shoes cannot be built in countries with poor labor conditions. It’s just that low labor costs allow for selection of cheaper materials and low pay managers are tempted to cut corners on trivial items.

I disagree. when all your workers are thinking about is how they will feed their kids tonight and if they will have enough food or medicine next week - they could care less about your product quality. to produce high quality items, CONSISTENTLY, you have to have multiple factors in place. Certainly, poor labor conditions are working strongly against product quality.
