He's generating revenue via a subscription, so that's an alternative to AdSense already (or supplement, as it were). Luckily there are other ad networks, and the ability to sell ads directly (which he is already doing) as a way to generate more income on the website. As far as the videos on YouTube though, I agree there is not much alternative because of the sheer size and reach of YouTube.
