I think he assumed that a speech made at 'a conference of the Institute of Directors' would not be covered so widely in the media. Almost like he was talking amongst friends at the golf club with no outsiders listening in?
A combination of naivety and ignorance, perhaps?
- mytailorisrich 7y agoWell, it was on stage at the Royal Albert Hall and filmed... The fact that it was filmed is probably what did it because then he was not just quoted as saying this, you could watch the speech. The video is still on Youtube.
