Ask HN: Transition from perpetual license to SaaS ideas?

We are transitioning our core product line from traditional local deployments and perpetual license to SaaS. What do you think would be the better approach, to offer both simultaneously on our web site and under the same brand, which could be quite confusing for both customers and sales reps, or to launch the SaaS offering under a different brand and untit\web site?
