I was eight. The year was 1983, and I was attending an elementary school that was participating in a pilot program that introduced Logo programming to third graders. I got exposure to Logo through the class, and because my mom taught at the school, I got a lot of after-school time in the lab too. Essentially: I was incredibly fortunate in a number of dimensions. (I still see themes in the way I work now that originated way back when... all these years later.)
