This analysis suggests a trivial solution, if it's accurate: Make a "shuffle" channel on Netflix which just starts playing a random show/movie which the algorithm has confidence you'll like. "Skipping" would be just like changing the channel on TV. That could probably do a better job of satiating the viewer than broadcast channels, which don't know your taste.
