Open offices are ruined by people. Some people cant work and interact with others in a respectful manner. Just because you're in an open office doesn't mean that others DON'T have the right to a low-disruption work environment. It gets really tiring to have to constantly fight off rude people just so I can get a few minutes of uninterrupted focus. "It doesn't bother me, therefore it doesn't bother anyone" is such a common trope.
