Ask HN: Best way to augment memory by streaming/saving audio?
Hey Folks,
I have a hobby project where I want to augment my memory by constantly recording audio (24/7, ok maybe 18 hours a day).
Ignoring the fleshware issues (consent for recording calls / meetings etc), what would be the best way to record all audio and save it?
What file formats should I use (it's 2019, would you still use mp3)?
What would the minimum bitrate I record at (for speech recognition / indexing)?
Am I nuts to try to stream the audio to a server and save it there (instead of doing a sync process at night)? I think streaming is within the realms of possibility (MP3 at 128Kbps is roughly 1GB per day).
Thanks for your 2c in advance!
